National Orienteering Day was September 19 at Comlara Park  Congratulations to Meet Directors Jim Carter & Laura Hall for a very successful National O-Day event.  Through their efforts and those of the many volunteers, many new people were introduced to our sport.  Even the weather was about as perfect as could be hoped for.  The large turnout was smoothly accommodated by the large cadre of volunteers – thanks to each of you!

 An enjoyable White course around the north end of the park was offered to introduce new people to orienteering.  For those seeking a little more challenge, the Yellow course included area covered in the white course, plus added some area along the east side of the park.  And for the few brave souls seeking the thrill of orange, these areas plus additional area south to the west side of the dam was offered.  Thanks to Fredrik Goransson for expanding the map to include this new area across from the dam.  All of the courses were a little on the longish side of length and number of controls to compensate for the flatter landscape than they normally encounter at an IRVOC event.  Jim & Laura wanted to assure everyone got their money’s worth (free!).
