Jubilee State Park  April 12, 2008

Gary used a map of the middle section of the park – a new map and terrain for most folks. There were very few leaves out and no sign of poison ivy or mosquitoes yet. The main creek crossings were over ankle deep with swift, “refreshingly cold” water. Although the trails were drying out last weekend (remember 65 degrees on Saturday & Sunday?), rain over the course of the ensuing week changed things a bit.

Times below are start, finish, elapsed.

White Course (Fields & Fences) - 1935 m

Participants on the White course went down to the creek, back up through meadow, then back to the start/finish.

Yellow Course (Field & Stream) - 4230 m

O-ers on the Yellow courses went down to the creek before facing a route choice dilemma. Then it was up to a field for another route choice decision. Next through a meadow and down to the creek again where they could get wet.

We said farewell to Tako & Jelte and family, heading back to Europe.  The deWit always provided an energy to the events we all enjoyed.

Orange Course (Hill & Dale) - 6430 m

Those on the Orange course faced a mix of short and looong legs likely to leave them constantly worrying whether the route chosen was the best one.  It offered more up and down (and an expectation they would get wet).

Pink Course (Heck & Back) - 8875 m The original course Gary intended for Orange turned out too long. So he added it anyhow as a Pink for the strong runners to get sweaty (on a 30 something degree day, then “refreshingly cold”.
