Keith Turner was meet director and course setter for the May 15th IRVOC O-meet at McNaughton
Park in Pekin, IL. Participants travelled from as far away as Bettendorf, IA. Special guest appearance by Mark Scaife while visiting from the UK.
White & Yellow courses were provided for those wanting beginner or hiking courses. In addition to the normal distance, terrain, and technical challenges for an Orange course, this one had no trails. It was interesting competing with only bearing, vegetation and terrain for navigational assistance. Marvin, Arlene, and dog Courage Doyle assisted with setting controls. Marvin also helped Keith pick them up and gets credit for the idea to leave trails off the Orange course map. Pam Duncan and Gale Grant assisted with registration. Sarah & Katie Duncan managed the start/finish and dubbed me the greeter. Keith says there are changes in order for future meets in Pekin and that we have more area on future maps thanks to Fredrik Goransson.
